100 Really Random Questions

1.In the film adaptation of your life…who plays you? And which parts get embellish? Left out?  I’m not sure who would play me. I’d actually like to play myself lol, I like to act. I like Natalie Portman and she is my complexion but a little shorter. I don’t think anything needs to be embellished, unfortunately my life has many dramatic events though we could cut out my teenage moping years lol

2.What year did you turn 17? Tell me a memory you have from that age I was 17 in 2005…I think lol. My birthday is in June so I was 17 for the majority of my senior year of high school. That was a great year. I loved the senior trip to Disney World and getting my own car the month before I turned 18. Of course it took all my money but it was worth it. 6 years later and I’m still driving the same car.

3.What are 5 everyday normal things that drive you crazy or annoy you? 1. When my four year old sister asks questions constantly. It’s great that she is inquisitive but she is never satisfied with the answers you give. 2. My 14 year old sister’s phone going off  every time someone texts her, which is every minute. 3.The fact that the nearest bookstore is 45 minutes away. 4.The fact that I had a 4.0 and still don’t have a job after graduating 10 months ago.  5. Our dog and his insane barking.

4.Tell me about the last film you saw The King’s Speech. I really liked it. I love almost every actor that was in and was so glad that it won the Oscar.

5.Who is the worse boss or teacher you’ve ever had? What didn’t you like about them? I can think of two right off the top of my head. One was my sophomore English teacher who thought she was teaching a graduate course. No, not even that…it was harder than that. She was insane. And then I had a college professor who really was insane. It’s sad because I think she was in the beginning stages of dementia. They forced her to retire after my semester with her but she would yell about weird things, publicly humiliate students and hand-write everything so you couldn’t even read your test questions.

6.Where is the farthest from home you’ve ever been? Why’d you go there? Well when I lived in NJ still I would travel 2500 miles to see my family in Texas. Now I live in Texas and travel the 2500 miles back to NJ to see the other part of my family.

7.Tell me about your first kiss, or the first one you can remember Hmmm I actually can’t remember my first one. I do remember the first one I felt was really a good ‘real’ kiss. It was a guy I was seeing in college. He came over to my apartment and kissed me when he left. It was in the lobby of my apartment and I remember feeling so special and hoped everyone was looking and feeling jealous lol

8.What is the oddest thing you’ve ever eaten? What is the oddest thing you’d like to eat? Seaweed. It’s gross. We ate some in 5th grade science class once, not sure why. I’m a vegetarian so I like to eat lots of ‘weird’  fake meat products. Ironically, my grandfather calls them “algae-meat.”

9.Have you ever read a book or article that had a lasting affect on you? What about it resonated with you? I am a huge reader so I’ve read many. I’ve been really moved by Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning and many books about strong women including Anna Karenina, Gone with the Wind, and A Handmaid’s Tale

10.What is the absolute best part of your school or job (besides just being paid for it ) I’ve graduate and am unemployed lol so I would say just having something to do. But in school I really did like learning new things in school.

11.What is something about yourself that you purposely do to annoy people? Hmmm I’d like to think that I am a very nice person lol.  I honestly can’t think of anything….things I do annoy my mother, like when I leave my change on the counter but I don’t do that just to annoy her. I hate it jingling in my purse.

12.Do you have any gems of advice? Doesn’t matter what it pertains to If you are a vegetarian, don’t move to South Texas.

13.Google your favorite color and tell me what it says about your personality. Is it correct? Having a personality color pink as your favorite color means you are loving, kind, generous and sensitive to the needs of others. I’d like to think that is true but I’m not the one to say.

14.Describe one of your friends in vivid detail. What do they look like? What is their personality like? What odd/bad/good/quirky behaviors do they have? Elizabeth Grou. A music major currently working in Human Resources and getting her teaching certificate. She is about 5’4 and average weight with brown hair a little past her shoulders. She is a joker sometimes to the extreme. It can be difficult to get her to be serious. She is always super busy because she loves to do new things. She loves classical music and the theater.

15.Tell me an inside joke. Feel free to skip right to the punch line and leave out explanations Omg, it’s my beautiful loving husband and he brought chips and salsa!

21.If your pets could talk what would they say about you? If you don’t have pets, what would your furniture say? My dog Raven would probably start a rant about my four year old sister Juliet because she likes to dress him up and put him in her baby stroller since he’s a tiny poodle.

22.Have you ever had an impossible thought you wish could come true? You mean like me traveling the world? Lol

23.What’s your method for coming up with usernames? I generally use one of two different ones I have. Jessiben is a shortened version of my name, Jessica Bennett and if that is taken then delphiandreams which is generally never taken. In fact if you google it, 90 percent of the stuff that comes up is me.

29.Which do you think would be harder for you…to tell someone that you love them, or to tell someone that you do not love them back? Depends on whether or not you think they might like you. If you are sure they don’t then telling them you love them is extremely hard.

30.Are you the kind of friend that you would want to have as a friend? Why or why not? Well I don’t know. I’m a really good listener but at the same time I’m kind of antisocial and don’t like going out to parties or even shopping.

100.Finish one of the scenes below. It can be as serious or wacky as you’d like. You must include the following 12 words AND your own name:

Jessica struggled to finish her gigantic final. It had to be 20 pages long! Professor Godwin was absolutely nuts! She had come in 40 minutes late and seemed to be flabbergasted that her students were more than a little pissed at her. Jessica struggled to read the handwritten questions but her mind kept  wandering with worry back to the fact that she still had to rush home and pick up her suitcase before practically sprinting at the speed of light to the airport. Why did she have this old dinosaur for a professor? Why couldn’t the woman at least learn how to use an electric typewriter for God’s sake! The test was supposed to be about French History but it could be about Japan for all that Jessica could make out.

What is Marie Antoinette supposed to have said about the starving peasants? “Let them eat…”

a. Bread

b. A Baguette

c. Cake

d. Each other

At least the questions where easy when you deciphered what they said. Honestly though, this woman was crazy, even her clothes looked like some antique heirloom and her speech flowed with the viscosity of tar. She was probably a hippie in her spare time or a jazzercising addict. Eeeww. Nevermind, the thought of Professor Godwin trying to do dance moves gave Jessica the heebie-jeebies. Perhaps she mixed up the French and Japanese test…Jessica could swear the next question said Hello Kitty. Oh my god it did!

In what year did the National Mint of France introduce Hello Kitty euros?

Either she is crazy or the whole world is…

gigantic, Professor, flabbergasted, suitcase, dinosaur, Japan, baguette, heirloom, viscosity, jazzercising, heebie-jeebies, Hello Kitty, (include own name)

Sunday Scribblings #257 – Raw

That’s actually a very good word to describe me at the moment – raw. When I think of  “raw”, I think of that patch of skin at the corners of your mouth or the sides of your nose that after months of cold rough winter weather has been chapped and, if you are like me, you can’t help messing with it so the dried skin has come of and let it red. Red and raw. So that every time you sniff or open your mouth wide you feel the skin stretch uncomfortable and are reminded of the ugly red patches.

That’s what I feel like right now. Even if nothing abnormally bad had happened (like Gma’s hip) all the little things added up would have left me feeling this way. It’s not once fierce wind that leaves those patches of dry skin, its the tedious continual winter weather. The little things build up and strip away your protective skin slowly so that when you get to the point where it hurts you feel horrible crying out for help because someone is bound to say, “Well what are you griping about? Nothing too bad has happened. Life goes on, quit your yapping.” But all your protection has been stripped away and every little thing you come in contact with hurts and even that remark makes you want to cry.

And that’s how I feel today. One thing happens you go, “Ok, that’s not that big of a deal”, something else falls through and you say, “Well, I wasn’t too keen on that anyway” A third and perhaps you can still smile in understanding and comment that “That’s life.” but the fourth and the fifth, the sixth and seventh and you begin to wonder if God has something against you.  I have no defenses now. I almost broke down three or four times tonight when out with friends for no reason that I can readily think of, I was just tired, fed up, raw.

But the word raw also has a positive connotation as in the phrase, “raw talent”. It is untapped, unprocessed as raw vegetables are uncooked. Although raw skin can be red and painful it is also raw as in that it is new and unused. It is the new layer directly below the dry, dead epidermis.  Maybe I’ll be able to come out of this with a thicker skin.

Creeping out of a low spot. Sometimes I don’t even realize I’ve been down until I start feeling better. Its such an endless cycle at times. Its kind of funny that it seems the things you put the most work into people dislike and the things you do on the fly get praise. But that was off topic.

I got my hair cut, cleaned up my craft stuff and plan to clean up my room tomorrow. Unfortunately, coming out of the slump means that I think and feel again. And tonight I miss those people I know it is better to forget. I miss Flan most of all. I keep telling myself I don’t really miss her, I miss who I thought she was but that doesn’t really help becausee both the fantasy and reality are gone. And they all say, “You are better off without her” but what do they know honestly, they are not me. How can they judge how I feel and what is better or worse for me? If I was doing something that effected my children or husband I can see where others have a right to discuss my actions but I have neither.

I’ve been watching The Sarah Jane Adventures. I like it as just a show but I think what really draws me to it is that Sarah Jane reminds me of Flan. Not like Flan is fighting aliens from her attic but something about her. Perhaps it was that relationship between Sarah Jane and Maria. Her best friend is a kid and she is torn. She loves her, but she knows its not a good thing for Maria.

I miss Anthony. I need someone to love, to hold, to pet. A boyfriend, a baby, maybe I should just get a dog lol.  I remember him falling asleep and just lying there in my arms. It was my favorite thing. He was like a cute little boy.

I miss Kathleen. I miss Stephanie. And it reminds me that if and when (hopefully) I move this summer I’ll leave Letty behind. Another one. 4 therapists in 3 years. And I haven’t left any of them because I wanted to, well except Ruth  but even then I didn’t have anything against her, just against staying in Princeton House. And I’ll have to start all over again.

I can’t wait to get out of here. I’ve had enough of being back with my family, of living in the middle of nowhere. The people here havent seen much of the world, either have in except by proxy but that seems to count for something. The lack of diversity of people, ideas, activities, etc down here is stifling. And I am doing nothing with myself, my life, my knowledge but sitting here and watching old tv shows. And people don’t understand that I have tried almost everything. They look at me disbelieving that if I really put my mind to it, I would have a job. I can hardly believe it myself but its a fact. I can’t get a job. I don’t know why or why not.

I sympathize with Van Gogh.

Perhaps fate/God/whatever restricts people like Van Gogh and so many other geniuses from succeeding in their lifetime so that they contiue to produce unsullied by fame and fortune and then are remember more fondly afterwards, not that that is much of a comfort unless you can look down from heaven. Of course in heaven one is not supposed to care for earthly glory. Now I’m just rambling.

It doesn’t end. This has been one of the worst nights ever.

So I got into a fight with my father. I never get into fights with because I never talk to him. That only makes it more stressful. Mom’s still at the hospital and Juliet is scared and worried. For heaven’s sake she’s only four. She has been sitting next to me all evening asking if Mom-mom is ok if Mom will be home soon etc. Has she asked Dad? No because he is unapproachable and hidden behind his computer. So of course he’s blind to the fact that his four yeard old daughter is distraught. She doesn’t respond as quickly as he would like when he tells her to get ready for bed. I can hear him from across the house, screaming at her and she is yelling. Yeah sure ok, she didn’t obey right away but she’s four, she scared and concerned and he’s yelling in her face, DO IT! So I came in and told him to calm down, she’s upset. He tells me to shut up, he’s the parent. Yeah some parent, dosen’t even know what’s going on in his kids lives. He never has. If he knows anything its because Mom tells him when it gets out of her hands. He told me to leave. I told him I didn’t have to. I’m 22. He can’t order me around. Well that definetly didn’t make him happy because I was such a mellow quiet kid that did whatever anyone said to me but I wasn’t about to leave him with her. She was terrified and he has been known to hit in anger. So he told me not to say another word or else. Or else what? I didn’t have anything else to say so I did keep quiet. This whole thing with Mom-mom in the hospital is just going to cause so much more stress than anyone needs. I know its selfish of me but why the heck can’t she listen to Pop once in a while and not do stupid things like try to walk when she knows she’s unsteady. FML

Day 30: A motto or philosophy

Wow, I think it took me like 3 months to get through 30 days. A philosophy….one I try to follow but I fail miserably at most of the time…The Golden Rule.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Really hard to accomplish.
