Day 2 – Favorite Movie

My favorite movie…this is kind of like music in the fact that I have so many….one for every mood. And most of them are movies no one has ever heard of…. The Women (1939), Goodbye Lenin!, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium….and then the ones everyone has heard of but still think I’m weird for loving so much…Star Wars, Gone with the Wind, Back to the Future….but when all things are considered my favorite isn’t even a “movie” but a made-for-tv movie…*drumroll please*

Yes, even in all its sacchrineness and corny-ness this is still my favorite. Why? Ummm….

1. Men in tights

2. Historical content

3.  Romance

4. Mystery and Adventure

5. Anthony Andrews

And…

6. Lines like:

  • This little revolution of yours is monstrous intolerable.
  • Chauvelin: We shall execute our king instead, sir, and exalt our tailors.
Sir Percy: More’s the pity. Then your tailors will rule the land, and no one will make the clothes. So much for French fashion, and French politics.
  • What is it you Frenchies say? Tou-che? You see I’m a poet, and you didn’t know it, what?
  • Marguerite: I don’t know whether you’re mad, or…
Sir Percy: Desperately in love? ‘Tis all the same. Tell me, if you can, that you do not feel it, too.
  • Sir Percy: You must tell me all about yourself, in every detail, but oh, so slowly, so very slowly, so that it takes a very, very long time.
  • Sir Percy: Ceased? I will love her to the day I die. That is the tragedy.

Oh don’t you love the smaltz of it all? Lol
