Day 30: A motto or philosophy

Wow, I think it took me like 3 months to get through 30 days. A philosophy….one I try to follow but I fail miserably at most of the time…The Golden Rule.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Really hard to accomplish.

Day 29: Hopes, dreams, and plans you have for the next 365 days

I need to get out of here! In a month or so I should hear back from UT Austin so I plan to spend most of the next year in graduate school, God willing. I’ll be back in a city with art, crowds, lots of places to shop and eat and lots of new people to meet.

I don’t mean to sound ungrateful. The people I’ve met here are great. It’s not their fault I don’t have a job here. I just can’t sit around on my butt all day anymore. It’s driving me nuts. And I was already “crazy” to begin with.

So in the next 365 days I hope to be almost half way through my Master’s studies, hopefully have at least a part time job, an apartment….oh and if only I had a boyfriend too that would just be the icing on the cake.

Well, we can only wait and see.

Day 28: A scar you have and its story

Ugh this is the one that reading through the list I’ve been dreading. I could easily lie and no one would know the difference…no one really reads this anyway but I hate lying. I know I’m not required to do this either but I really nevertheless though not in too much detail.

Very long story short: I have a scars on both my wrists from the ropes that held me down and one on my right breast where my attacker bit me. They are small, hardly noticeable but I know they are there and they drive me crazy at times. If memories weren’t enough…and emtional damage, I don’t need physical reminders as well. Ick.

Day 27: A physical feature you love

On myself or on others?

Cause on guys….I don’t really have on specific feature that stands out. As long as the overall package is pleasing….I’m not going to say no to a guy just because he’s nose is a little funny. If he’s ugly that’s another story. 🙂

On myself….to be blunt….I’ve got a nice chest. 🙂 Not too big, not too small.

Day 26 – A Childhood Memory

This is kind of funny because at the moment I am working on a list of 100 childhood memories for Swapbot. Right now I’m up to about 66….so here are the first five.

 1. I loved to help collect the communion cups because my grandparents were in charge and would give each kid candy for helping.

2. I tried to read every Nancy Drew book I could find.

3. My brother Josh used to run and hid everytime we turned on the bath water. I don’t know if he was scared of drowning or getting clean.

4. We used to make ‘scarecrows’ out of old clothes filled with leaves. Sarah H. helped once!

5. My mom once mentioned when I was very young that she hoped my Dad didn’t get lost in the fog. I thought she said frog and imagined this great big green frog swallowing my Dad’s car.

1 tablespoon butter

Day 24: A movie no one would expect you to love

Ok, forgot about this thing for a while but I am determined to finish since there are like 6 left. This one though…I mean, come on. All my movie choices are real weird and even though I feel like I’ve used this for an answer like 20 times already, The Scarlet Pimpernel. It really is a misfit though compared to all the sci-fi/adventure movies like Star Wars, Harry Potter, BTTF, etc. Yes, it does have adventure but a lot of it is gooey really overdone romance but I don’t, I love it kind of like A League of Their Own too. Some movies are good, you just have to be in the right mood in order to watch them. 🙂

Day 23 – A Way in Which You Want to be Remembered

I want to be known as a person who overcame her past and was able to put it to use in order to help others. I want to be known as intelliegent but not a know-it-all. I want to be seen as kind and compassionate.

Day 21-Something You Know You Do Differently Than Most People

So I’m always being told I’m “strange” or “different” and now I can’t think of anything in particular….

I read Russian History books for fun. That has to be pretty strange but it fascinates me. I love history, I have a degree in it and Russia is a remarkable country with such a varied history. From the opulence of the Romanovs to Communism, the tension between Westerners and Slavophiles, the huge gap between the upper class and the serfs….

There are so many interesting historical figures too. Of course there is Stalin, Lenin and Trotsky but also Peter the Great, Boris Gudnov, Rasputin, Dostovesky…

Cultural things like the Ballet, Icon-making, Russian Orthodox Church…

Russia encompasses so many tographical regions especially at its height when it included Siberia and the Caucaus. The “western” cities like St. Petersburg and then all the way to the nomads on the Easter plains. It has everything. 🙂
